HOW DO YOU CONTROL LICENSES?
VTube-LASER and VTube-STEP licenses are controlled with two levels of security.
- A USB hardware key (also referred to as a dongle) is required.
- REGISTRATION of VTube so that it is linked a specific computer is required. For VTube-STEP, see How to Register the VTube License. For VTube-LASER, see How To Register VTube-LASER Licenses.
CAN IT BE INSTALLED ON MULTIPLE COMPUTERS?
Yes - to a limited number of computers. Because the system requires a hardware key, we allow you to install the license on up to three separate computers at the same time, then move the USB hardware key from computer to computer. Each computer will need its own registration. For security of the license, if the requested number of computers registered is above three, then we will ask you to purchase more licenses.
CAN THE LICENSE BE TRANSFERRED TO A NEW OWNER?
In some cases, we may allow you to transfer the license to another licensee. According our VTube End-user License Agreement, you are required to seek permission from us first. If we allow for the transfer, then we will ask the new owners to prove that they have the USB hardware key in their possession through a series of simple checks.
IS THERE A VERSION AVAILABLE WITHOUT A HARDWARE KEY?
No. The hardware key is how we ensure that unpurchased multiple simultaneous licenses are not being used at the same time.
WHAT IF I LOSE THE VTUBE HARDWARE KEY?
We understand that hardware keys are lost or stolen sometimes. In most cases, we give our trusted customers the benefit of replacing the first loss at a fee that is less than the license. We record the lost key serial number as lost or stolen and monitor for its use at any time in the future.
If the second key is lost, then we ask you purchase a new license at full price. See the comment about insurance below.
SHOULD I INSURE AGAINST LOSS OR THEFT?
Yes - We request that you treat each license as an intangible asset with value. Therefore it should be insured against loss or destruction like any other asset. If the second hardware key is stolen or lost, then please use your insurance to cover its replacement.
CAN I REPLACE A MALFUNCTIONING HARDWARE KEY?
Yes. These are the requirements:
- The VTube SMP must be active.
- The malfunctioning VTube hardware key must be returned to us.
- You will agree to purchase the replacement key for a replacement fee.
WHERE CAN I READ THE END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT?
See VTube End-user License Agreement
