Many USB to serial adapters have incomplete or incorrect RS-232 implementations. There are many that we have tested and have found to be defective. The units below are sold be reputable companies that sell good products for RS-232 communications.

MOXA USB UPORT - USB to Serial Port Adapter
We trust MOXA for serial device servers (through TCP/IP connection). We have not tested their MOXA USB Uport unit - but it seems similar to the Keyspan and is probably very high quality.
