Calibration-Leapfrog-Move Targets

This conical seat target is useful for calibrating ball probes.

In sets of three or more, they turn into leapfrog or tube move targets that help VTube-LASER operators measure parts longer than the FARO arm reach using the arm leapfrog or tube move.

Features

The targets use a magnetic base to attach to any metalic surface or metal spring clamp.
They are good for standard 3 or 6 millimeter FARO probes.
The pillar finish is industrial-grade glossy white finish.

Leapfrog the Arm Over the Tube

As of version 1.91, VTube can leapfrog the arm over the tube in the middle of any measurement. In order to accurately leapfrog the arm over the tube, it is necessary to pause the regular measurement and measure 3 more more points in space using the ball probe before and after the leap or move. Then, after the leap, the arm measures the same points in the same order.
In the image on the right, the targets are attached to the base of the tube clamp. This allows the arm to leap the part and continue measuring. Any number leaps can be combined to measure any distance.

The Exact Leapfrog Steps

Place at least 3 targets as far from the arm as possible in the direction you want to leap.

Press the LEAP button in the guide window on the left.

Measure the targets with the ball probe. Press the green button to measure each target.

Press the red button to finish the initial measure.

Without moving the targets or the tube, leap the arm over the targets to a new position.

Measure the targets with the ball probe. Press the green button to measure each target.

Press the red button to finish the measure.

The leap is complete. Continue measuring where you left off before.

Move the Tube During Measure

It is also possible to move the tube if you attach the targets securely to the tube, then use the leapfrog feature. For example, you can use a standard metal spring clamp to attach to the tube, then place the magnetic target on the clamp handle.

The Exact Move Steps

Place at least 3 targets on the tube. The three targets should not form a single line.

Press the LEAP button in the guide window on the left.

Measure the targets with the ball probe. Press the green button to measure each target.

Press the red button to finish the initial measure.

Move the tube and the targets to the new position relative to the arm.

Measure the targets with the ball probe. Press the green button to measure each target.

Press the red button to finish the measure.

The move is complete. Continue measuring where you left off before.
