Isolated USB Serial Port
From ATTWiki
There are two types of USB serial converters in the industry. Each of them has a unique chipset.
- USB Serial Drivers for FTDI Chip Adapters
- USB Serial Drivers for Prolific Chip Adapters
We strongly recommend that you purchase FTDI chipped adapters over the Prolific - especially for 64 bit machines. The converter shown on this screen runs well in Windows 7 without causing the blue-screen like the Prolific adapters.
The benefit of this device is that it is isolated from electrical surges. The standard units are not.
See the adapter at the CoolGear.com site.
