There are two types of USB serial converters in the industry. Each of them has a unique chipset.

  • USB Serial Drivers for FTDI Chip Adapters
  • USB Serial Drivers for Prolific Chip Adapters

We strongly recommend that you purchase FTDI chipped adapters over the Prolific - especially for 64 bit machines.
